What Clients Say About Dr. Paul’s Business Consulting Services

Video Transcript

Introduction

Hey all, this is Paul Borosky from Quality Business Plan. In this video, I want to show you exactly what’s included in my Handyman Business Plan Template.

First, I’ll share a bit about who I am and what I do, and then we’ll dive into the Word document portion of the template and the financial model in Microsoft Excel.

Overview of the Handyman Business Plan Template

When you purchase my Handyman Business Plan Template, you’ll receive two files: a Word document and a Microsoft Excel financial model.

Once you open the Word document, you’ll see the title page. Most clients replace the word “Handyman” with their company name and logo, keeping “Business Plan” underneath.

Next is the Table of Contents. After you’ve added your content and customized the plan, simply right-click the table, choose Update Table, and select Update entire table to refresh headings and page numbers.

Executive Summary Section

The Executive Summary provides an overview of the entire plan. Complete this section after finishing the other parts of your business plan.

Anything highlighted in yellow should be reviewed for relevance, and anything in parentheses should be replaced with your business details (e.g., company name, owner’s name).

This section includes:

  • Company Summary

  • Target Market

  • Financial Highlights (linked to the Excel model)

  • Funding Request

Company Description

The Company Description covers your services, competitive advantages, target market, pricing strategy, hours of operation, and location.

To close this section, there’s a brief strategic plan outlining business objectives and a basic timeline.

Industry Analysis

The Industry Analysis has been updated for 2023, based on data from IBISWorld, the industry leader in research.

I summarize their findings in plain language, including:

  • Total industry revenue

  • Profit margins

  • Number of businesses and employees

  • Average wages

SWOT Analysis

The SWOT Analysis includes editable bullet points for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

Click the list and update it with your own information to make it specific to your handyman business.

Organizational Structure

This section includes:

  • Ownership Summary

  • Organizational Chart (editable)

To modify the chart, click the graphic, use the small arrow icon, and update roles and names accordingly.

Marketing Plan

Over my 13 years of writing business plans, I’ve worked with numerous handyman companies.

Most use three marketing channels:

  1. Traditional Advertising (print, flyers)

  2. Online Marketing (website, SEO)

  3. Social Media (photos, consistent posting)

Each section in the template provides a starting paragraph you can customize.

Funding Request and Financial Projections

Here you’ll describe:

  • How much funding you need

  • Expected loan terms

  • Interest rate assumptions

The financial model includes:

  • 12-month profit and loss statement (by month and quarter)

  • Five-year annual income statement

Excel Financial Model Overview

The Excel financial model includes four tabs:

  1. Information Page

  2. Projections

  3. Year-One Profit & Loss

  4. Five-Year Income Statement

When you update the Information Page, all other tabs automatically refresh.

Editable sections include:

  • Daily sales

  • Labor

  • Startup costs

  • Monthly fixed costs

  • Tax rates, growth rates, and loan details

Once updated, you can copy and paste financial statements directly into the Word plan.

Summary and Closing

In summary, the Handyman Business Plan Template includes:

  • A customizable Word document

  • A detailed Excel financial model

  • Access to tutorial videos

You’ll need Microsoft Word and Excel to edit both files.
