Introduction
Hey all, my name is Dr. Paul Borosky, and I’m the owner of Quality Business Plan.
What I’d like to do today is show you how to use my Handyman Business Plan Template—specifically, how to write your handyman business plan in about 30 minutes or less.
In my opinion, the best way to do that is by using a template geared toward the handyman industry.
In this video, I’ll walk you through the Word document I sell on my website, designed specifically for handyman services. I’ll also briefly show you how to use the financial model that comes with it. There’s a separate video that dives deeper into the financial model, but this tutorial focuses on the Word document portion.
Purpose of the Video
The goal of this video is to help you create a functional business plan in under 30 minutes.
Now, this won’t be a massive, 70-page document that gets you millions in funding overnight—but it will be a usable, professional business plan you can build on.
Within 30 minutes, you’ll have a plan suitable for:
-
Landlords
-
Small business loans
-
Sharing your concept with friends and family
The template package includes both a Word document and an Excel financial model.
Compatibility note:
These files work only with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. They are not compatible with Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Apple products.
Also, there’s no free phone support after purchase. You’re welcome to call, text, or email me before you buy to ask questions. After the purchase, my assistance is limited to ensuring you received and downloaded your files correctly.
If you want personalized help completing the plan, I do offer paid mentoring and writing services.

About Me
Before diving into the template, a little background about me:
I’m a professional business plan writer, and if you’re struggling even after using the template, I can write your plan for you.
I’ve authored numerous business plan writing books available on Amazon and created multiple industry-specific templates on my website.
I’m also an adjunct professor of finance and business, as well as a subject matter expert in both fields—so everything I share is backed by both real-world experience and academic expertise.

Marketing Plan
Handyman companies typically rely on three main marketing channels:
-
Traditional marketing – Flyers, local ads, referrals.
-
Online marketing – Website, SEO, Google Business Profile.
-
Social media – Posting before-and-after project photos.
The template gives you starter paragraphs for each channel that you can customize or use as-is.
Funding Request
This section specifies how much money you need, loan terms, and interest rate expectations.
If you’re working with investors, edit the paragraph explaining that ownership percentages will be negotiated based on the investment amount.
Financial Projections
The template includes:
-
Year 1 Profit & Loss (broken into quarters)
-
Five-Year Income Statement
You’ll update these figures using the Excel financial model.
When adjusting data (like changing daily customers from 5 to 6), the model automatically recalculates profit and income statements.
Once you’ve made all your edits, copy and paste the new figures back into the Word document (use CTRL+C and CTRL+V).
