Introduction
Hey all, my name is Dr. Paul Borosky, and I’m the owner of Quality Business Plan.
In this video, I’d like to share a few tips and tricks on how to write a Bar and Lounge Business Plan — this is Part Two in the series.
Here’s how this video will go:
-
I’ll start with a quick background about who I am and what I do.
-
Then, I’ll walk you through several professional insights for writing a bar and lounge business plan.
About Me
As promised, a little about me.
My name again is Dr. Paul Borosky, professional business plan writer, and owner of Quality Business Plan.
If you’d rather avoid the “fun and excitement” of writing your own plan, feel free to call, text, or email me — I’d be happy to write it for you.
I’m also a business mentor and consultant, helping clients understand their financials, build financial models, and execute strategic plans.
Finally, I’m an adjunct professor and subject matter expert in both business and finance.
So if your business plan is ready but those financial projections have you stuck, I can help with that too.
Tip #1 – Create a Strong First Impression
Your title page is your first chance to make an impression.
It should look clean, professional, and clear — not cluttered.
Here’s a simple structure I recommend to my clients:
-
Company Name at the top.
-
Logo below it.
-
The label “Business Plan” clearly displayed.
Keep it concise and professional — that sets expectations for the quality of the rest of the document.
Tip #2 – Write a Compelling Executive Summary
The executive summary is where you tell your story.
Give the reader a broad overview of your bar and lounge — what it is, where it’s located, and how it operates.
Include these essential elements:
-
Concept Description: Explain what makes your bar or lounge unique.
-
Target Market: Identify your ideal customers.
-
Financial Highlights: Share expected revenues, costs, and profits for the first year.
-
Funding Request: State how much capital you need, what terms you expect, and how you’ll repay it.
Most business plans miss that last part — the repayment explanation. Investors and lenders want to see how you’ll return borrowed funds, so make sure that section is clear.
Tip #3 – Master Your SWOT Analysis
A SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) is crucial for your bar and lounge plan — but only if done correctly.
Strengths & Weaknesses (Internal Factors):
Focus on what’s inside your business.
-
Strengths: Management experience, creative drink menus, trained bartenders, or a unique bar concept.
-
Weaknesses: Keep these general. Examples include being a startup or having an untested concept at that location — both are honest but not damaging.
Opportunities & Threats (External Factors):
Focus on what’s outside your control.
-
Opportunities: Expanding to new locations, building brand recognition, or sponsoring adult sports leagues to increase visibility.
-
Threats: Established competitors and economic downturns. These affect all bars, so mentioning them shows awareness, not weakness.
Summary and Next Steps
Hopefully, these tips help you write a clear and professional bar and lounge business plan.
