Idaho Business Plan Writer for Micron and INL Suppliers
In the Treasure Valley, Micron’s chip plant along Federal Way pulls in contractors and suppliers. In East Idaho, Idaho National Laboratory buys from small businesses year after year. A lender will ask what happens when one of those contracts ends, and Dr. Paul’s plan answers with real numbers.

How Dr. Paul Helps
How Dr. Paul Helps Idaho Suppliers Plan Past the Big Contract
A big plant can fill your schedule for a year and then go quiet. Your plan has to show the lender what keeps the doors open after that.
- Concentration shown, not hidden. Your largest buyer’s share of sales goes on the page, next to the steady remodel, service or commercial work that carries you if that buyer slows down.
- Revolving loan fund requests. Idaho’s Small Business Revolving Loan Fund, paid for with federal State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) money, runs through regional districts such as Panhandle Area Council in the north and Southeast Idaho Council of Governments in the east. The fund usually lends next to a local bank, so the request is built for both sets of eyes.
- Collateral Support, explained. Short on collateral for a bank loan? Idaho Housing and Finance Association runs the SSBCI Collateral Support Program with participating lenders, and your plan shows why the gap is worth covering.
- Subcontract work in the template. The construction company template can be set up around Micron and INL subcontracts, with phased billing and retainage in the cash lines.
- Licenses lined up. Your LLC registers with the Idaho Secretary of State. Idaho has no general state business license, so the plan lists the city, county and trade licenses your work needs.
- Supplier skills first. Idaho SBDC centers at Boise State, North Idaho College and Idaho State University offer no-cost advising, and Dr. Paul’s supplier management guide explains how big buyers choose and drop vendors.
Idaho lenders are not afraid of Micron or INL work. They are afraid of a plan where that work is all there is. Dr. Paul writes the big contract as upside and the steady local jobs as the base, and that order changes how a credit committee reads the whole file.
Real work in Idaho: In 2021, Dr. Paul built a grant-ready business plan for a dog daycare in Idaho.

Three Idaho Cities, Three Different Plan Problems
Boise contractors chase fab work, Coeur d’Alene lives on lake season, and Idaho Falls fills rooms with park traffic and INL visitors. Each plan needs its own math.
| City | What Drives Demand | The Plan Question |
|---|---|---|
| Boise | Micron’s Federal Way fab buildout, North End and Garden City remodels | How much Micron work is safe? |
| Coeur d’Alene | Summer lake visitors, the floating boardwalk, holiday light show crowds | Can lake rentals outlast Labor Day? |
| Idaho Falls | Yellowstone traffic on US 20, the War Bonnet Round Up, INL contractors | Park season or year-round INL rooms? |
Micron is building new memory fabs along Federal Way beside its Boise R&D campus, and the work pulls trades crews and suppliers in off I-84 and the Connector.
“How much Micron work should a Boise electrical contractor plan on?”
The Plan FixBid Micron fab packages in phases and keep retainage out of your cash forecast until it is paid. Keep North End and Garden City remodels billing every month, and price crew travel from the Bench out to Eagle Road.
Lake Coeur d’Alene’s summer season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day around the floating boardwalk, and the resort’s holiday light show keeps Sherman Avenue busy into winter.
“Can a Coeur d’Alene boat rental business make it through the months after Labor Day?”
The Plan FixEarn most of the year on the Lake between Memorial Day and Labor Day, stretch into September with paddleboard and kayak rentals, and borrow from Panhandle Area Council only for hulls and motors.
Idaho Falls sits on the US 20 route to West Yellowstone, and the War Bonnet Round Up fills Sandy Downs each summer.
“Should an Idaho Falls motel count on Yellowstone traffic year round?”
The Plan FixSet summer room rates on US 20 park traffic and War Bonnet week, then fill winter rooms with INL contractors working at the lab’s desert site west of town.
Many owners here also serve nearby markets. Dr. Paul covers neighboring Montana, Washington, Utah, and Wyoming as well.

Operations for Small Businesses
Idaho suppliers to Micron and INL win or lose on capacity, delivery and supplier planning. The book covers scheduling, delivery promises and choosing suppliers, and shows what breaks inside a small shop when a big order lands.

The Idaho Desks Where a Plan Gets Opened
Idaho money moves through regional districts as much as through banks. Know which door you are walking through.
SBA Boise District Office
The SBA’s Boise office covers all of Idaho, so a lender in Coeur d’Alene or Idaho Falls deals with the same district as one in Boise.
Small Business Revolving Loan Fund
Regional economic development districts deliver the fund, including Panhandle Area Council in North Idaho and Southeast Idaho Council of Governments in East Idaho. Its loans usually sit alongside a local lender’s loan.
Collateral Support Program
Idaho Housing and Finance Association runs the program with participating lenders. Your bank brings it in when collateral comes up short.
Idaho SBDC
The Idaho SBDC has regional centers at Boise State, North Idaho College, Lewis-Clark State College, College of Southern Idaho and Idaho State University.
Idaho Secretary of State
LLCs and corporations register here and file annual reports. Your plan should carry the same legal name the Secretary of State has on file.
City, County and Trade
Idaho has no general state business license. Trades license through the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses, and Boise, Coeur d’Alene and Idaho Falls set local rules.
