Transcript: Demystifying the Business Plan Writing Process
Introduction
Hey all, my name is Paul Borosky, and I am the owner of Quality Business Plan. What I'd like to do today is demystify the business plan writing process. Inevitably, when I speak with a client for the first time, one of the questions they ask is, “What is the business plan writing process?”
Overview of the Process
My immediate response is simple: jump on my Prices page, select a plan, send a deposit, fill out the questionnaire aligned with that plan, and then we’ll jump on a phone call for clarification. After that, I’ll send over a scope of work. You make the final payment, and boom—you’ll have your business plan ready in three to five days.
That’s my typical spiel for the business plan writing process. But there’s a lot more that goes on behind the scenes. So what I want to do today is walk you step-by-step through how my process actually works—from choosing your business plan package to signing and returning the scope of work.
Step 1 – Visiting the Prices Page
When I first speak with a client, one of the first things I ask is if they’ve been to my Prices page. On my website, QualityBusinessPlan.com, there’s a top menu bar where you can select Custom Business Plan Prices.
Once there, you’ll find a video outlining the business plan writing process. I typically deliver business plans in about seven days or less. The product packages range from my Express Plan at $500 (prices change over time) to my Complex Plan, which can start around $8,000.
Step 2 – Selecting a Plan
I recommend clients review the different plans listed. For instance, my Express Trucker Plan is ideal for box truck drivers, hot shots, and other trucking operations. Click the button to open the plan page, where you’ll find a video sample of a hypothetical business plan.
Each plan page shows the structure, length, and writing style you’ll receive. You can scroll down to see details such as number of pages, included revisions, section breakdowns, and links to the corresponding questionnaire. This transparency ensures you know exactly what you’re getting before spending a penny.
Step 3 – Making a Deposit
Once you’ve chosen your plan—say the Express Trucker Plan—you’ll click the deposit link. This takes you to my Quality Business Consultant website, where I handle all payments. The deposit is always $100 regardless of the plan.
Add the deposit to your cart, proceed to checkout, and complete payment using either a credit card or PayPal. After submitting payment, you’ll see a confirmation message and download link for the questionnaire specific to your chosen business plan.
Step 4 – Completing the Questionnaire
Download the Word document questionnaire and fill in what you can. Each plan comes with an instructional video to guide you through the questions. If you don’t know an answer, skip it—we’ll cover it together during our consultation.
Once completed, email the questionnaire to paulb@qualitybusinessplan.com.
Step 5 – Clarification Call
After receiving your questionnaire, we’ll have a 15–30 minute phone call to discuss your business details: what you do, how, where, and why. I’ll ask clarification questions and note key details for your business plan.
Step 6 – Scope of Work Agreement
Following our call, I’ll send you a Scope of Work via Adobe Sign. You’ll click “Start,” review the document, and initial each section. I ask that you confirm you’ve watched the sample video to ensure you’re comfortable with the structure and style.
As you go through, you’ll see the specific plan you selected, pricing, included sections, delivery timeline, and payment terms. For example, if your plan costs $500 and you’ve paid the $100 deposit, the balance due will be $400.
Step 7 – Financial Model and Review
Before finalizing, I’ll prepare your financial model with sales estimates, startup costs, labor expectations, fixed costs, and loan details if applicable. You’ll review this to ensure accuracy.
Step 8 – Final Payment and Delivery
Once you sign the Scope of Work and make the final payment (via PayPal or Stripe), your turnaround time begins—three business days for Express Plans, seven for Traditional and Advanced Plans.
If you decide not to proceed after reviewing the Scope of Work, I’ll refund your deposit—no questions asked. However, once the contract is signed and final payment made, revisions outside the agreed scope aren’t included.
Closing Remarks
Typically, the entire process—from selecting a plan to receiving your completed business plan—takes about five to six days, depending on how quickly the questionnaire is returned.
Hopefully, this information clarifies my business plan writing process. If you have questions, feel free to call or email me anytime. My contact information is on the screen. Have a great day—and as always, thank you!
